the art of sculpture
Whimsy dictates that
- in tribute to the 1st sculptor listed on The Art Of Fallbrook.com -
homage be paid to Australian sculptor, painter,
pen-pal & fellow name-sake, Michael
Cartwright
Born
in 1959, Australian,
Michael Cartwright, studied art at the
Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology and has pursued full-time the art of
sculpture, painting and
printmaking for 20 years
His sculptures are described as
abstract and abstract figurative and are
direct, spontaneous manifestations of
life teetering on the edge of harmony.
He works in any material that expresses
his freedom
In addition to exhibiting
throughout Australia, Michael's works have been shown in
Singapore, Thailand, Hong Kong & China
He has also served as artist-in-residence in France, Italy and Ireland
Beyond this, Michael has
traveled to the U.S. on art business,
touching down in San Francisco and New York
And, as Fallbrook's bronze and
aluminum foundry - Art Works Of Fallbrook - attracts
regional artists, Michael has traveled to work at foundries in Thailand and
Indonesia
Michael is married to
Australian sculptor, Shona Nunan
They currently live and work in Tuscany
