FALLBROOK TOURISM
AND THE RELATIONSHIP WITH
THE COUNTY OF SAN DIEGO
by
Vince Ross
|[ Partnering
]|
When
it comes to Re-Vitalization and
tourism in Fallbrook, The County of San Diego serves as a major partner
A
current example of this all- important relationship is the following list
of projects involving County participation and approval
This
list of requests was submitted to Supervisor Bill Horn,
and his staff, in December, 2004:
-
The remote parking
policy connected to the new Village zoning. This item was left undone
when the new zoning was completed in February, 2004
-
Traffic calming in
areas such as the historical Heart of the Village shopping district
-
Welcoming signs at the
gateways to Fallbrook, plus further development of the community's
character, such as the continued planting of trees at the entrance to,
and within, the Village
-
The creation of Art
Festivals. Also, county permits to close streets for the Festivals
-
The further development
of visitor attractions, such as
the Art Studios of Fallbrook, and the Artworks of Fallbrook
properties on Alvarado Street
-
Obtaining County use
permits for downtown hotels,
and Bed & Breakfast inns
-
Flood control,
environmental clearances, and linear park improvements on the
County-owned Pico Promenade
-
An upgrade of the
community parking lot behind
The Art Center At Fallbrook, in order to
support special events
and the coming new library
-
Consideration of
forming a Re-Development District.
Re-Development would provide
significant funding for some of the
more expensive infrastructure
projects throughout the Town Center

Ahead ]|
The
Fallbrook Village Association,
and the FVA's Big Picture Committee,
have been working on these projects for the past 2 years.
They will continue to expand on these efforts in 2005
