Tourism Development:

THE PLAN

|[Fallbrook Begins Implementation Phase
of Tourism Development & Marketing Plan

Welcome,

To this first in a series of updates detailing Fallbrook's recently commissioned Tourism Development & Marketing Plan.

The plan - undertaken by Destination Development, Inc., of Olympia, Washington, and funded by a grant administered through the County of San Diego - was commissioned by the Fallbrook Village Association and the Fallbrook Chamber of Commerce.

Building on Fallbrook's flourishing community of artists, and the galleries and Art Center that have followed on their heels, the advice given to the Village from the tourism consultants at Destination Development, Inc. was to continue in this arts vein, promoting - specifically - arts education.

Their reasoning was that, although there are several communities throughout Southern California promoting the arts, none are focusing primarily on arts education.

As the Village now moves into the implementation phase of the Tourism Plan, arts education will be utilized as the principle means of community revitalization. A vision of new markets, new jobs, and the long-term enrichment of the Village is the driving force behind this strategy of cultural tourism.

Advancement of the arts, community participation, increased tourism, and economic redevelopment are considered to be not only allied, but mutually reinforcing.

Spotlighting the arts will continue to fashion Fallbrook's identity. This identity will rally pride-of-place, productivity, and economic vitality. These are considered the heart of a healthy community.

Fallbrook has thrived over time due to the enterprising nature of its residents and their willingness to embrace the new. These are exciting times to be living in the Village, playing a part in shepherding in its future.

|[ Past Being Prelude To The Future ]|

This determined nature of Fallbrook has already laid a solid foundation of arts for the tourism projects to build on. With downtown's Art Center serving as the spiritual core - the art & soul of the Village - its sister Fallbrook Village Association art venues, the Art Studios and Brandon Gallery, continue to grow and thrive.

All 3 venues report increased attendance and revenue, expanded shows, increasing publicity and expanded staff support.

And now begins the implementation phase of the Tourism Development & Marketing Plan. Destination Development, Inc. suggested that the Plan be overseen by the Fallbrook Village Association, supported by the Chamber of Commerce.

The recommended proposals to foster tourism in the Village will be guided by 7 Committees:

  1. Big Picture Committee

    • Mike Weber • Vince Ross • Don McDougal • Sid Syvertson • Jennifer Jeffries

  2. Marketing Committee

  3. Chamber of Commerce

  4. Arts Council

  5. Village Center Association

  6. Fallbrook Beautification Alliance

  7. Private Developer

    • To Be Determined

Volunteers are actively being sought to participate in the implementation phase of the Tourism Study, serving on Committees 2-6 listed above. In order to play a part in this exciting community endeavor, please contact any of the above committee leaders, or:
